Advancing Knowledge of European & International Affairs
ABOUT
The Fondation Arlon is an independent and politically non-partisan not-for-profit organisation. Also known as the Arlon Foundation, it promotes understanding, advances knowledge and facilitates activities relating to European and International Affairs.
Initiated in 2001, the Fondation’s interests encompass, in particular:

sharing knowledge through the exchange of best practice
-
bringing together actors from government, commerce, civil society and the media
-
advising non-governmental organisations
Its diverse range of activities include: preparing MPs to become Members of the European Parliament; facilitating exchange of information between non governmental organisations with EU and UN policymakers and funders; as well as, enabling practitioners, policymakers, academics and the media to work together more effectively. In addition it examines areas of EU policy covering environmental, cultural, economic and social activity.
ACTIVITIES
The activities of the Fondation Arlon include:
Sharing knowledge through the exchange of best practice

advising European cultural heritage networks on progressing their programmes for the exchange of good practice and access to appropriate funding support
Bringing together actors from government, commerce, civil society and the media

bringing together ngos, government, media and the academic world to promote dialogue on how they can best work together within the context of the enlarged EU supported by EU, German and British governments, and German Foundations
Advising non-governmental organisations
-
organising training seminars and courses on how to be an effective MEP for MPs and aspiring MEPs from the newer Member States supported by the European Parliament and involving the European Commission and Council of Ministers, in Brussels and Strasbourg

coaching Member States civil servants prior to their Presidencies on Chairing Working Groups and the Co-Decision process

lecturing on "Effective Advocacy Within the EU" at Maastricht and for the Stresemann Institut

advising environmental and heritage ngos on strategies to manage their organisations and to draw down support for their activities within the political and financial context

advising ngos on sustainable tourism techniques relating to coastal challenges
-
advising a leading European Orchestra on raising its profile beyond the musical world with policymakers
